Provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to take on the role of an Evacuation Coordinator while leading the shift (LTS) at their restaurant. The LTS course is suited for participants with limited or no fire safety experience or those doing this LTS course as a refresher.

Participants will gain the necessary skills and knowledge required to ensure the safety of occupants at their facility during an emergency and also confining fire emergencies in a facility with initial first response equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hose reel & fire blanket.


This course is designed for anyone with limited or no fire safety experience. It includes: –

  • Means of raising the alarm
  • Fire safety & evacuation
  • Evacuation coordination duties
  • The different fire classes
  • The different types of fire extinguishers
  • Your kitchen suppression system
  • Fire triangle theory
  • Safety procedures when fighting fires
  • Firefighting tactics
  • Your building Fire Wardens
  • Using a fire hose reel
  • Using a fire blanket
  • Practical Session: Operate fire extinguisher to extinguish a fire safely


This course is delivered over 1.5 hours, including practical hands-on use of fire extinguishers to contain a small fire.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course however participants must be over eighteen(18) years of age and have the ability to:

  • work independently
  • access and interpret information relevant to a range of typical emergencies that may occur in the facility or workplace
  • be able to communicate clearly

No student will be permitted to undertake the course if they are under the influence of alcohol, an illegal/illicit substance, or impaired by a prescribed medication and other impairments such as fatigue, mental health issue, or stress.


On completion of this course, students will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement.

Delivery mode

The training course will be delivered face-to-face classroom instruction including assessments and guided practice with an experienced trainer.

Materials or equipment required

We will provide all relevant training equipment and materials to undertake this course.

Additional information

The QLD Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008 require Evacuation Coordination Training to be renewed annually.
