Fire Extinguisher and Fire Warden Combo

Description

Provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate as part of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) and confine fire emergencies in a facility using initial first response equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hose reels, and fire blankets.

Purpose

This course is designed for anyone with limited or no fire safety experience in first response / first attack firefighting or ECO skills. Participants will gain the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate as part of an ECO to ensure the safety of occupants and visitors during an emergency.

Duration

This course is delivered over 2.5 hours, including practical hands-on use of fire extinguishers to contain a small fire.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course however participants must be over eighteen(18) years of age and have the ability to:

  • work independently
  • access and interpret information relevant to a range of typical emergencies that may occur in the facility or workplace
  • be able to communicate clearly

No student will be permitted to undertake the course if they are under the influence of alcohol, an illegal/illicit substance, or impaired by a prescribed medication and other impairments such as fatigue, mental health issue, or stress.

Qualification

On completion of this course, students will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement.

Note: This is a non-accredited course. If you require Nationally Recognised Training, you must register for courses listed under Nationally Recognised Training only.

Delivery mode

The training course will be delivered face-to-face classroom instruction including assessments and guided practice with an experienced trainer.

Materials or equipment required

We will provide all relevant training equipment and materials to undertake this course.

Additional information

The QLD Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008 require Evacuation Coordination Training to be renewed annually. The Australian Standards AS 3745 requires Warden training to be renewed at 6 monthly intervals or as determined by the Emergency Planning Committee.
